Comments: Coaches I would like to invite you to the 7th annual Spartan Slam on Nov.16th. Each team is guaranteed 5 matches, We will have 12 teams participating. Teams will be put into 3 pools of 4 teams and those teams will wrestle a quad. Then the top team from each pool and will compete in a tri in order to decide 1st, 2nd, 3rd. The # 2 teams in each pool will wrestle a tri (in order to decide 4th, 5th, 6th). The same happens for the # 3s and #4s in each pool. The tournament runs very smooth with only a short lunch break to set everything for the finals. We wrestle on six mats for the morning session and four mats for the finals. Comments: Eligibility: 9th and 10th grade wrestlers only (no juniors). We want this to be for younger wrestlers to get experience. We are going to put all of the wrestlers (by weight class) into 4-man pools. We will run 3 rounds, every wrestler will wrestle every round. 9am, 11am, 1pm. We will not keep team scores, just get every kid 3 matches. Matches will be 1-1-1. Awards: Any wrestler that goes 3-0 will get a gold medal. We will only give medals to undefeated wrestlers. Comments: Madison is located less than 1 hour east of ATL right on I-20, and we have tons of hotels and restaurants that are minutes from the event site. Our new gym can hold up to 6 mats, and we will accept up to 32 teams. Each table will have an adult supervisor and an ATA scoreclock for the duration of the tournament. Officiating will be provided by MAWOA. We have a great staff who have continuously hosted Area and Sectional tournaments in addition to our Inivitational.

About: John Christian “J.C.” Ferrell October 12, 1989 – January 15, 2007 John Christian Ferrell epitomized PRIDE - Perseverance, Rigor, Intensity, Determination and Effort - in everything that he did. The victim of a childhood accident that took his left leg above the knee at the age of four, J.C. never let circumstances dampen his outlook or hold him back. J.C. began wrestling at the age off fourteen, employing a prosthetic limb. A devoted wrestler at Central, J.C. was a respected leader and competitor on the mat. J.C. also excelled in the classroom, maintaining a 3.87 GPA as an honors student while taking accelerated math and science classes. The J.C. Ferrell Duals honors this young man’s commitment to excellence in sport and academics.
